So, my buddy and I are not in the same city and have made a bet. Here's how it works:
Each pick a straight winner of every week, regardless of the spread.
Best w-l total at the end of the season wins.
For each playoff game, a side bet (of varying stakes) is made.
Here are the week 1 picks. Obviously we pick a lot of the same. This week, we've differed on four games: Saints/Browns, Eagles/Texans, Jets/Titans, and Cowboys/Jaguars.
Josh:
Miami @ Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh wins)
Atlanta @ Carolina (Carolina wins)
New Orleans @ Cleveland (Cleveland wins)*
Seattle @ Detroit (Seattle wins)
Philadelphia @ Houston (Houston wins)*
Cincinnati @ Kansas City (tough one, but I've got to take Cinci)
Buffalo @ New England (Patriots win)
Denver @ St. Louis (Denver wins)
Baltimore @ Tampa Bay (Baltimore)
NY Jets @ Tennessee (Jets win)*
San Francisco @ Arizona (Arizona wins)
Chicago @ Green Bay (Chicago wins)
Dallas @ Jacksonville (Dallas wins)*
Indianapolis @ NY Giants (Colts win)
Minnesota @ Washington (Vikings win)
San Diego @ Oakland (San Diego wins)

I am going to roast you. In good fun.

All right. I may feel a little sheepish about the Tenessee pick (and am also surprised that you took the vikings) but there is no WAY the browns are gonna win. JAX/DAL is going to be the game of the week, so it's great that we picked different sides. I also think McNabb has some life left in him; enough to beat the Texans at the very least. Who, again, is the Texans starting running back this week? Some douche named Lundy. The Westbrook factor makes this game an Eagles blowout. (Also...Name a Texans linebacker. No? Nothing? Didn't think so.)
Cleveland is under Rommel, NO barely has a stadium to play in. It doesn't matter if you have an overrated qb and 2 good rbs if you have NOTHING else.
Philly imploded at the end of last season and only got worse in the off-season. The Texans got a lot better and hired a bronco as their coach. I'm confident. And yeah, the Titans will lose.
I picked the vikings. you picked denver. whatever.
If tsn.ca's Chris Schultz is as smart as he thinks he is, we'll each be 2-2. He picked the Browns and 'boys (YES) and the Eagles and Titans (NO!).
How's the roasting going?
Knew the Titans would lose. But how's that 'Texans on the rise' theory holding up? 2 and 1, cowboy. And, speaking of cowboys, you need this win...
